The Curious Cat Project is an online community for connecting and inspiring writers.

Hi, I'm Carina. I created The Curious Cat Project to pay it forward.

Sometimes all it takes is one connection to create a career or spark a passion. A couple of years ago, a former colleague of mine set up a meeting for me with a poet, and I stopped dreaming about becoming a writer and started writing. I hope this space can help make similar life-changing connections for others and provide the inspiration people need to start writing.

You don't need to quit your job to do it. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2010 with a degree in journalism and political science but started my career as a science teacher, later receiving my master's degree in urban education policy at Brown University. I started with zero literary connections. Today, my writing is still something I pursue on the side of a full time job, but it's no longer a dream. It's something that's a part of my daily life. In 2015, I published my first book and started writing for popular websites like HelloGiggles and

The Curious Cat Project is not just a blog - it's a community. It's a place to learn from others. To give and get advice.  To write and read. It's also designed to provide a feeling of connectedness in the online space, a space that is empathetic to the busy professional who wants to take off his or her pants (pardon you!) after a long day at work and get to work writing.

Why all this stuff about cats, you ask? Well, they're cute. Ernest Hemingway loved them. And the best writers are curious cats: ravenous readers craving information and new tips about writing. Plus, writing is always more pleasurable with a furry companion by your side.
